Dear Madam, Dear Sir,
The public is practically unaware of the economic and human situation in Madagascar because fourth-world countries cannot communicate! After 25 years of a totalitarian régime, the country recently underwent serious political turmoil. As an effect, activity nearly stopped during long months, further impoverishing Madagascar. The miserable population suffered immensely from the chaos. The country is now starting to reorganize its structures.
Many factories were shut down, foreign investments came to a halt, airlines were forced to close so flights and tourists stopped visiting the island. Notwithstanding increasingly erratic climatic conditions: numerous hurricanes regularly afflict the island and drought is a major concern in the southern portion.
The population has shown much dignity versus adversity. People try to help one another as best they can. Evidently, that is unfortunately not enough. Since 1997, Framadon (based in Madagascar and France), has been helping destitute Malagasy childen. Troubled times affect children more immediately and harder than the rest of the population for obvious reasons. We did our best to tackle the situation during these very difficult moments in order to rescue thousands of children. Today, our crews operating on location absolutely need food, medicine and clothes to distribute.
We also have mid- or long term projects such as: mobile unit, furnishing the welfare center, building solar water-pumps, etc. Finally, we need to finances storage of goods in France and sending the goods by container to Madagascar.
FRAMADON is helpless without you. Needs are huge. We urgently need your help.
I thank you on behalf of our children.
Dora RABALISON
