We work mainly
in the city slums in the suburbs. We wish to expand our scope
to the rest of the island, outside the city. We are looking at
buying a truck (Peugeot Boxer), to carry medicine in drawers;
a refrigerator to keep certain medicine; a working area and a
chair on wheels for the examinations. We will also need to buy
en electrical unit and a computer.
Three
doctors would work full time on this project.

The shelter was built in 2001 for 23.000 Euros.
Since FRAMADON was created, we have welcomed volunteers, mostly
French, selected following certain specific criteria. The accommodation
facilities we provide are poor.
We can put up about 20 people simultaneously. There are two dormitories
on the first floor. On the ground floor are offices, bathroom
and toilet and medicine storage.

Water
is a major issue in Madagascar. Water is needed not only for cooking
and drinking but for sanitary protection. The numerous epidemics
of cholera are due to water pollution and children are the most
affected. Ourt first undertaking would be the village of Ambohasary,
in Fort Dauphin (in the southern part of the island, affected
by draught), where there is one well for 30.000 inhabitants.
The well is drying up. A solar pump would cover the needs in drinking
water as well as being useful for farming purposes.
A
pumping kit delivers 30.000 liters of water per day. The cost
is 4.000 euros plus the delivery cost and the wages of local workers
involved in setting the device up.
